There are 2 Internets?

A new paradigm: the merging web

Cruise down the Information Super Highway and you will notice that there are indeed two different Internets.  Sound crazy?  Just keep on reading with an open mind.

What do you use the Internet primarily for?  Now you have to be honest here. What's the first thing you do when you go to the Internet. Are you Googling or searching for information? Are you looking up financial news? Checking on movie times? Banking? Playing games? Watching movies? Downloading music?

We believe that the your use of the Internet defines your experience.  It may be some marketer's dream, but going to your bank's site and playing games is most likely not in the cards.   However, going to that site and viewing a short video on a bank product or a commentary on finance is very much in line with the norm.  So it's logical that there will be some multimedia content on that site, but do you really want to wait for fancy graphics or have someone talking at you each and every time you visit the site?

That can be annoying.

Certainly sites like ESPN™ and iTunes™ are designed for entertainment.  High energy graphics, streaming audio and the like are all present and anticipated or expected by the visitor.

Thus we believe that there are two Internets:

4 Fast, effective information or transactional
4 Entertainment and high energy.

We've all experienced it in one way or another.  We get done using a web site and most likely come away with one of the following opinions.

4 The site was fast, easy to use.
4 The web experience made no impression at all.
4 The site too long to load, had me click too many clicks to get to where I wanted to go.  I just couldn't find what I was looking for.
4 It was annoying.

The facts are simple and the votes are in.  Internet users are almost always information searchers or transaction oriented.  And that's the challenge:  to blend the need for glitzy marketing and your requirement to provide customers with speedy and up-t0-date information.  You want to cater to your client base and yet be able to attract new potential clients.

It's an age old problem: the desire to attract new clients is often counter to the needs of the people that keep the doors open - your customers and clients.

ePrima dedicates itself to this blend.  Check us out.
