chain with hourly
workers needed a way of
simplifying payroll time
entry. The problem

records were faxed to
the home office, a recap
sheet was created, and
then sent back to the
managers. Once the
managers okayed
the recap, payroll was
entered by the home
office. While
great care was taken in
entering the information
- both for the recap and
later for the payroll
run - the process was
fraught with human
error. The
solution was simple.
Give the store managers
access to a program
allowing them to
enter the payroll time,
proof the time, and have
that information flow
straight into the
payroll system.
The result was improved
accuracy, a reduction in
manager's time to
prepare the entries,
and ultimately a faster
turnaround for the home
office on preparing
payroll.
